Sparkman & Stephens · 1960
Designed in New York, built in Genova, sailed in Dubrovnik. A mahogany-and-teak ketch with the pedigree of the American golden age of yacht design.
Drawn by the New York office of Sparkman & Stephens and laid down at Cantieri Costaguta of Genova in 1960, Levantades is a mahogany-and-teak wooden ketch. Her lines come from the same drafting room behind Dorade and a string of America’s Cup defenders — and after sixty-five seasons her timbers are still doing the work they were drawn to do.
For six unhurried hours we cast off from Rijeka Dubrovačka and trace a quiet line through the Elaphiti — sea caves at Koločep, lunch at a family konoba on Šunj, the slow drift home as the sun lays gold across her decks.
